PCHETA Introduced in Senate to Invest in Hospice and Palliative Care

(From HAN) NHPCO and our advocacy affiliate, the Hospice Action Network (HAN), welcomed the introduction of the Palliative Care & Hospice Education Training Act (PCHETA) today in the Senate. We have been working with cosponsors Senators Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, to reintroduce this bill, which passed the House with more than 280 bipartisan cosponsors in the last two Congresses and was supported by more than 55 Senators, but did not pass into law. If it becomes law, PCHETA would support research and education to develop hospice and palliative care medicine.

Take action: Call on your Senators to invest in the hospice and palliative care workforce by cosponsoring PCHETA. HAN’s Legislative Action Center makes it easy.(NHPCO Newsbrief, 5-19-22)

Submit Comments on the FY 2023 Proposed Hospice Rule - Talking Points

NHPCO has developed talking points (PDF requiring member login) to support providers and state groups to submit their own comments highlighting their individual experience. NHPCO has confirmed the number of letters submitted makes a big difference when CMS is reading and summarizing all comments. The Carolinas Center is crafting public comment letters on behalf of our members, in addition, providers are encouraged to craft letters as well.  I encourage that we align our comments and thoughts along with NHPCO as much as possible. A provider or state organization can also state in their letter they are in support of the recommendations made by NHPCO. All comment letters must be submitted to www.regulations.gov by May 31, 2022. (NHPCO Newsbrief, 5-19-21)
