Wilma Rice, MSN, RN, CEN

EDUCATION COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON & POST WORKGROUP CHAIR

Wilma Rice, MSN, RN, CEN possesses a Masters degree in Nursing with specialty in education.  She has been a Certified Emergency Nurse since 1988, and formed her own business, Professional Medical Trainers, LLC, in 2012.

Ms. Rice has been an Education Specialist for Roper St. Francis Healthcare since 2007.  Prior to this, she was in the Emergency Department for 28 years, serving in various roles, including charge nurse, triage nurse, manager and Emergency Services Educator.

Ms. Rice has received honors and awards, including induction into Sigma Theta Tau in 2006 and the 2014 SC AHEC Educator of the Year.  In 2020, she was nominated for and awarded the Palmetto Gold Nursing Award. 

Ms. Rice has been involved with the SC CSI since 2011 as the representative for Roper St. Francis Healthcare.  Currently, she serves as Chairperson of the South Carolina Coalition for the Care of the Seriously Ill (SCCSI) Education Committee.

She works with several state initiatives surrounding advance care planning, including being the Chair of the SCSCI’s Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment (POST) Workgroup, which was instrumental in the passage of the 2019 POST law. She also serves as a member of the SC Pandemic Advisory Council which deals with the ethics of the current pandemic.
